Cavaliers Earn Regional Honors at NCAA Southeast Regional UVA Press Release Nov 13, 2004

Virginia's Emily Harrison was the first rookie across the tape, earning All-Regional honors along with teammate Shannon Hawrylo as the Cavaliers took fifth place at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet on Saturday (Nov. 13). Three men also earned All-Regional honors as Soeren Lindner and Will Christian both finished in the top-10 and Ryan Foster ran third for the Cavaliers, taking 17th overall as the men finished fourth as a team.

Jessica Fanning led the Virginia Tech women's cross country team to a 10th place finish and earned all-region honors for her top-25 performance in the NCAA Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships hosted by East Carolina University today at Lake Kristi. The Hokie men tied for 14th place out of 29 teams, which is one place higher than they finished last year.

2004 CAA Champion William and Mary women's cross country will aim to qualify for the NCAA Championship this Saturday as it contests the NCAA Southeast Regional, hosted by East Carolina in Greenville, NC. The top-two teams from the 6,000m race, held on the Lake Kristi Course, will earn automatic berths to the NCAA Championship. 13 at-large bids will also be rewarded after all the Regional meets are completed and a team's finish at its Regional is crucial in securing an at-large bid. The Southeast Region is one of the deepest and most competitive in the nation and traditionally sends at least two at-large selections to the Championship. The Southeast currently boasts four teams ranked in the latest FinishLynx National poll: No. 5 Duke, No. 8 North Carolina, No. 10 N. C. State and No. 21 Wake Forest. The Tribe has been ranked as high as 22nd this season.

Cavaliers to Compete in NCAA Cross Country Southeast Regional UVA Press Release Nov 10, 2004

The Virginia men\'s and women\'s cross country teams will compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet this Saturday (Nov. 13) in Greenville, N.C. on the Lake Kristi course. The women\'s 6K race will start at 11:00 am while the men\'s 10K race will start approximately at 12:15. Both squads have been to the national meet in recent years, and the men look to return after last year\'s berth while the women are looking to return after a one-year hiatus.
