2024 4A East Regional Track & Field Meet Information

Willow Spring High School, 1704 Old Honeycutt Road, Fuquay Varina, NC 27526

Saturday, May 11th

Note: Late Entries need to entered on the NCHSAA website and are due by May 6th by 3:00 p.m.No entries after this will be accepted.

Entry deadline is 9:00 pm on Saturday, May 4th

Seeding: All events will be seeded according to your entry submission. All times will be verified in MileSplit.

Concessions: Concessions will be on sale throughout the meet through the efforts of the Willow Spring Storm Booster Club.

Protest - All protests must be filed with the meet referee  within 15 minutes of the posting of the results of the event. *Protests will be judged by the games committee, which will consist of five head coaches (one from each conference) and the meet referee. Please review the NFHS Rule Book, as this covers some of the situations that are eligible and not eligible to protest. All coaches must abide by the NFHS Rules and any supplemental policies or risk disqualification of an athlete or their team. 

Athletic Trainer Assistance - Willow Spring  Athletic Trainers will be stationed in the middle of the field. 

Format for Distance Events- The 4x800 and 800 will be run as a one-turn stagger, with athletes breaking past the break line on the backstretch.  The 4x400 will be run on a three-turn stagger, the first runner will run entirely in their lane and the second runner will break at the break line. The 1600 and 3200 will use a waterfall start, unless the number of athletes necessitates a two-alley start.

Results - Throughout the meet, results should be posted live and a link will be shared prior to the meet.  Complete results will be available on NCRunners (nc.milesplit.com) after the meet. 

Gates Open: 8:00 AM for teams and 8:30 AM for spectators

Coaches Meeting: 9:30 AM at the clerking tent

Track closes at 9:45am for morning events

FIELD EVENTS:

10:00 AM

**Implement weigh in and pole inspection will start at 8:30 AM and close at 9:30 AM in the shed outside the fence close to the 100m mark.

*Once weigh in has occurred all implements will remain with staff until throwing events have begun and they will be brought out to throwing areas for warm-ups.

*All Implements will remain at the event until its full conclusion after finals. (example Men's discus, Women's shot put, etc.)

**3 jumps & 3 throws top 9 will go to finals

Long Jump: Boys followed by Girls 

Triple Jump: Girls followed by Boys

Discus: Boys followed by Girls

Shot Put: Girls followed by Boys 

High Jump: Girls followed by Boys (starting heights will be published after entries close)

Pole Vault: Boys followed by Girls (starting heights will be published after entries close)

Top 8 times advance to the finals

AWARDS: 

The top three individuals and relays from each event will receive medals from the NCHSAA to be presented at midfield. 

The top two teams will receive trophies from the NCHSAA. 

The top four are all qualifiers to the State Championship.

MISCELLANEOUS:

*No athlete will compete in more than four (4) events, including relays, for the entire meet.

*Shot put and Disc rings are closed until official warm-ups begin and staff is present for safety

*No throwing of implements in nearby fields (warm-ups will only occur in the designated 

  throws areas)

*High Jump is located near the finish line on the infield.

*All other jumps are located inside the fence on the visitors side.

*Hip numbers will be worn on the left hip for lane races. All other races will wear numbers on the left hip and left chest.

*Athletes should know the order of events and not depend solely on calls before they check in.

*All schools should come prepared to have coaches assist in some capacity. 

*Coaches hospitality provided in the press box.

*T-shirts will be for sale ($20.00) at the team entrance on the right side of the stadium.  Cash, card and checks made payable to Marketing Special Promotions.
