Come out to McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte and run a classic course on a Saturday morning.

**McAlpine has been home of the Foot Locker South Championships since 1982 and has also hosted state, regional, conference and various other high school and college championship meets, including AAU, USATF, NCAA Regionals and NAIA Nationals.

-- In 2013 Hare & Hounds was voted one of the top 10 meets in North Carolina according to a poll by ncrunners.com

-- For the past 11 years (2012-2022), Hare & Hounds has been a featured meet on ncrunners.com



GREAT COMPETITION:Runners from Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and, of course, North Carolina have competed at this meet.

-- 5:25 pm Boys' Middle School Invitational (3k)...Top 21 individuals receive a dog tag with race name and place on it.

-- 5:50 pm Girls' Middle School Invitational (3k)...Top 21 individuals receive a dog tag with race name and place on it.

-- 7:55 am Boys' Championship (Most competitive race, 7 runners max per team)...Top 21 individuals receive a dog tag with race name and place on it. (**not a race for developmental runners)

-- 8:15 am Girls' Championship (Most competitive race, 7 runners max per team)...Top 21 individuals receive a dog tag with race name and place on it. (**not a race for developmental runners)

-- 8:40 am Boys' Invitational (Next most competitive race, 7 runners max per team)...Top 21 individuals receive a dog tag with race name and place on it. (**not a race for developmental runners)

-- 9:10 am Girls' Invitational (Next most competitive race, 7 runners max per team)...Top 21 individuals receive a dog tag with race name and place on it. (**not a race for developmental runners)

-- 9:40 am Boys' open...Top 21 individuals receive a dog tag with race name and place on it. (**for teams that are not as competitive and for developmental runners)

-- 11:15 am Girls' middle school championship (3k)...Top 21 individuals receive a dog tag with race name and place on it.

-- 11:35 am Boys' and Girls' Elementary Championship (2K) ... Top 21 boys and Top 20 girls receive a dog tag with race name and place on it. 

*** VARSITY RACES: All varsity athletes can run in any varsity race regardless of what they signed up for (and you can switch on race day and you do not have to let us know; as long as they have a number and a timing chip, and they cross the line, they will be recorded).

*** MIDDLE SCHOOL: MS runners can run either day/race (SCHSL, NCISAA and other state associations that allow middle school runners to run varsity 5Ks can choose if they want to run varsity 5K or middle school 3K).

****AWARDS WILL BEGIN AFTER THE CHAMPIONSHIP GIRLS' RACE AND WILL BE GIVEN OUT ONCE EACH RACE IS COMPLETED.

****MEDICAL: Novant Health and school trainers will be available for emergency care, basic first aid, and taping. Water, injury ice, and an AED will be accessible at the Sports Medicine tent located near the finish line. If your athlete will require taping, please supply your own taping and/or padding materials. All teams are encouraged to bring water for their team areas.

-- Top two teams in each race receive a trophy

-- Top individual in each race receives a "Hare" trophy.

-- Second-place individual in each race receives a "Hound" trophy.

MEET ENTRY FEES:

-- $85 for a girls' team

-- $150 if you bring both a boys' and girls' team (savings of $20 if you bring both teams)

-- $185 if you bring your high school & middle school teams (a savings of $115).

-- Individual entries are $25 each (unless a team has more than 3 and then they can pay the team price)

PARKING  - NEW THIS YEAR AS OF SEPTEMBER 2023 FOR OVERFLOW PARKING AT MCALPINE PER MECKLENBURG COUNTY PARK & RECREATION):

TO ORIENT YOURSELF, PLEASE READ BELOW:

** Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation has lost the ability for events to use some off-site/auxiliary parking that they previously used when the lot at McAlpine Park filled up.

-- This year, once the parking space at McAlpine fills up, we will be able to use East Mecklenburg High School, 6800 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212 (which has been used for Foot Locker in past years)

--We will have shuttles running to and from East Mecklenburg.

-- Buses should still drop off teams of runners and gear (coolers, tents, etc.) at the park, and then those buses will be directed to East Mecklenburg, 6800 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212, where the coach/driver will be able to return to the park on a shuttle.
