There is an unattached or club meet on 9/26 in Kernersville. The A races are full, but about 140 spots are left in other races. B & C races does not mean they are JV. No one running 30+ min 5k's should enter this event.
There will be 50 kids per race, starting in waves of 10 about 30 sec apart. Start2Finish is running the event and you register online, sign a liability waiver, and pay $12 online. They are the timinggroup based in Charlotte doing events at McAlpine. No money to be made or is hosted by any NCHSAA school. Local parents will be course marshallsand such. Just making you aware of this opportunity. I expect the remaining 140 spots left to go quickly. Masks required until the start line and disposable masks handed out at finish. Parents/Spectators not allowed.

Remember the optics. No one should be around the usual tent city field. Meet officials will not report a club coach wearing a mask wandering on the road looking like a jogger or better yet the upper field. Coaches or parents running from the Mile mark to 2 mile mark and back for a finish line cheer ain't happening! If a parent wants to drop off athletes near the start in the gravel lot and proceed to drive awayand then park in the big grass field where all spectators do for States would be best. If they do that, and casually walk across the street to the upper field, masked, apart, and not chilling in beach chairs. I am not sure who will be able to see this if they follow those instructions. When their athlete passes by and heads for the finish (which parents or club coaches will NOT be able to see)and then go back to their car would be a pretty reasonable expectation. If they cannot do this they will be escorted to their cars. This is not debatable. Athletes will quickly leave the finish area and head to the field parking to cool down and depart.

These pop up races have to be done right. Even though this is not a NCHSAA event many of us and our kids are all associated with that organization. Let's be a model and show how intelligent, creative, and responsible coaches and athletes can keep our sport alive and safe. Maybe some quality pics, masks, proper distancingwill allow more numbers to be granted for the NCHSAA season. This is a get in and out event. There is no hanging around. No tents. After the race the athletes are escorted out of the start/finish area and the set up field. This allows the next race group to check in and complete their warm up.
