C.W. Porter Relay Invitational 2017

Meet Information

On Saturday April 1, 2017, South Caldwell High school will host the 41st annual C. W. Porter Relays. The track will be open at 8:30AM and a coachs scratch meeting will be held at 10:00AM prior to the meet. Boys Field events will begin at 10:15AM. Girls Running events will start at 10:20AM. They will switch upon completion.

All field events will be held for teams of three (3) participants from each school, with the best efforts of each totaled. Refer to the on-line entry form for descriptions and order of running events. Please enter times, heights and distances as accurately as possible, as entry forms will be used for seeding purposes.

Please remember that you may enter all or only a few events.

Medals will be awarded to the winning team members in each event. Ribbons will be given for second and third. Points scored in each event will be accumulated for team championship and runner-up trophies.

There will be an individual entry fee of $40.00 for the Girl teams and $40.00 for the Boy teams. There will be a team fee with both Boys and Girls of $80.

Please advise spectators attending the meets that there is an admission fee of $5.00. Athletes arriving separate from their teams should use their uniforms for admission.

Fully Automatic timing, provided by Big Kahuna Timing will be used at the Relays this year in all events.

All entries should be completed on-line.

On-line entry will be available from March 13th to March 29th at bigkahunatiming.com. Entry deadline is, March 29th at 3:00 PM. Heats and seedings of the meet may be viewed at http://www.bigkahunatiming.com beginning on Thursday, March 30, after 5:00 PM.

A concession stand will be available for athletes and spectators and a hospitality room for coaches, officials and the press. Event Descriptions


All Field Events (Shot Put, Discus, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, PoleVault) are for teams of three competitors. The best effort of each athlete will be totaled to form a team score. Schools may not enter more than 3 athletes per field event. Less than 3 athletes may be entered, but these athletes must compete against the teams of 3 from other schools.

RUNNING EVENTS

1. 3200 M. (4 X 800) Relay
2. Shuttle Hurdle Relay4 X 110 (100 for women) low hurdles (hurdle height for men & women is 30 inches)--Each team is assigned 2 lanes (1-2, 3-4 or 5-6). 1st and 3rd hurdlers run west in lane 1, 3 or 5. 2nd and 4th hurdlers run east in lane 2, 4 or 6. A tape line will be placed 3 feet from the end of each hurdlers lane. When the incoming hurdler breaks this line with any part of the body, the outgoing hurdler may start.
3. 800 M. (4 X 200) Relay
4. Distance Medley Relay--(800, 400, 1200, 1600) The first runner runs 2 laps and hands off using a preference exchange. 2nd runner = 1 lap. 3rd runner = 3 laps. 4th runner = 4 laps.
5. Open 800 - (This race will be for any athlete that wants to come and run an open race that will not be scored. This event will be hand timed and times will be called out as the runners pass the finish line. No entry for this event.)
6. Sprint Medley Relay--(100, 100, 200, 400) The first three runners are in lanes. The anchor runner may break after taking the hand-off and clearing the zone.
7. Coaches 100 meter & 4x100 These races will be for any coach that wants to see if they still got it. 100 will be during the womens running events and the 4x100 will be during the mens running events.
8. 400 M. (4 X 100) Relay
9. 1600 M. Team RaceThis event is run as a 1600 M. cross country race. It will start and finish at mid straight-way. Each 4-person team totals their 4 times for a team time. Places are determined by total time.
10. 1600 M. (4 X 400) Relay

THERE WILL BE A 4 TO 5 MINUTE BREAK BETWEEN ALL RUNNING EVENTS TO ALLOW RECOVERY FOR ATHELTES THAT MIGHT HAVE EVENTS THAT ARE CLOSE TOGETHER. THIS IS A NON TRADATIONAL MEET AND CAN GO FAST. HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THE ATHLETES IS A HIGH PRIORITY.
