White Oak girls win: Sarah Hart’s first-place run led the host White Oak girls to victory in a Mideastern 3-A/4-A Conference meet.

Hart, a sophomore, crossed the finish line in 20:30. Jacksonville freshman phenom Kaitlyn Davis was second, five seconds behind Hart.

“Kaitlyn has unbelievable talent … Sarah was on her home course and I know she doesn’t like to lose on her home course,” said Vikings head coach Chris Mueller. “They (Hart and Davis) are good for each other.”

The Cardinals’ Erin Putnam, Ryanna Henderson and Whitley Raney rounded out the top five.
“Our women showed a lot of mental toughness racing Topsail Tuesday and racing against Jacksonville (Thursday),” said Mueller. “They are some very tough teams.”

Andre Smith paced the White Oak boys with a second-place finish of 17:07. New Hanover’s Stephan Miller was the individual champion at 17:02 while Hoggard emerged as the team champion.
