Senior and two time all state cross country runner, John Irvin roared to victory winning his second straight St. David\'s School Invitational. His time of 11:18 on the 2.1 mile course put him one second off his previous year’s course record and gave him the win by 55 seconds. “I wanted to press hard with a fast first half mile and see if anyone would stick with me “, explained Irvin. Irvin’s victory paced the boys’ squad to a 46 to 51 victory over Fayetteville Christian. Other Warriors in the top ten were Paul Weiandt running sixth and Andrew Kaufmann running seventh.
On the girl’s side sophomore Stacey Gaillard also won her second straight St. David\'s School Invitational as she ran 13:48.4 to just best freshman teammate Taylor Arceneaux by .4. In team scoring Fayetteville Christian won with 32 points over Cape Fear with 56, Cary Christian 82, St. David\'s 85, Arendell Parrott 129 and Rocky Mount Academy 136.
