A big Friday night for TSTCA #3 @ Slippery Rock for the boys 3000 and the girls Shot Put... Ellwood City\'s Jake Walker goes 8:42.9, which is US#1 in the 3000, while Center\'s Allyn Laughlin takes over US#3 and PA#1 with a throw of 45-07. On 1/21 at Kent State OH, Bradford\'s Erin Hannon moved into a three-way tie for US#1 in the High Jump, clearing 5-08. She also went 8.73 for 55H, 17-08 LJ, and 37-05.50 TJ. Conestoga\'s Liz Costello, coming off a storybook XC season, continued the journey of a dream senior season with a 4:56.09 Mile win at the New Balance Games in New York at the Armory. She and Katie Doswell of Virginia separated at 800 meters, and with 200 to go, Costello broke open the race. Her final 800 split was 2:22 according to coach Ryan Comstock. The Simon Gratz boys improved their PA#1, US#3 4x400 to 3:21.19 winning the event. Penncrest sophomore Karen Shump traveled to the University of North Carolina, and came away with a 3rd place Shot Put of 43-01 at the Eastern Challenge.
