Saturday August 18, 2012 ... Pioneer Clash of the Classes
Hosted by Watauga High School.
This unique cross country festival is a fun and low-pressure way to cap your pre-season training. Every class has its own separate 2-mile race. Separate races for each grade (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th). You must enter class for each athlete.
11:00 a.m. - Freshman girls.
11:20 a.m. - Freshman boys.
11:40 a.m. - Sophomore girls.
Noon - Sophomore boys.
12:20 p.m. - Junior girls.
12:40 p.m. - Junior boys.
1:00 p.m. - Senior girls.
1:20 p.m. - Senior boys.
Course: A mostly flat mix of grass and dirt trails beside the New River. For your more advanced runners, the area around the course has five miles of grass/dirt trails and 2.5 miles of paved greenway for running before and after the race.
Entry Fees: $25 per team (boys and girls separate teams) for unlimited number of athletes in all four classes.
$5 per athlete - less than 5 athletes
Accept race day checks
Make checks to Watauga Cross Country and mail to Randy McDonough, Hardin Park School, 361 Jefferson Road, Boone NC 28607.
Athlete Entry: Entries will be taken through the MileSplit Network. Find our meet on the NCRunners.com calendar page and click Online Entry. Entries are due by midnight, August 14th, 2012.
Awards: Awards to the top 10 in each race. Team scores based on the seven best finish places from any of the four races (maximum of three scorers from one race).
Sanction: North Carolina and bordering states ( VA, SC, GA). Boone, NC is 90 minutes from Winston-Salem, 2 hours from Charlotte, and 80 minutes from Johnson City, TN.
Average high temperature in late-August is 77 degrees! Boone is the best summer running location in the Southeast.
