Camryn Dailey, 8th Grader - Track Xplosion
Even though she's just an 8th grader, Dailey owns the fastest time in the 200m dash this season.
The middle school phenom ran a 22.73 en route to a second-place finish at the Florida Relays two weeks back and continues to ride the momentum she created in the winter, where she won all three of her 200m races, including at adidas Indoor Nationals. With so much ahead of her, it will be worth watching what Dailey could become - perhaps North Carolina's, or even the Southeast's, best sprinter.

William Clark, Fr. - Myers Park
Coming off a strong cross country debut, Clark is the top-ranked freshman in the 1,600m and 3,200m races halfway through the outdoor track and field season.
This fall, he ran a 16:11 5K en route to a 5th-place finish at the 8A West Regional and would end up crossing the line in 37th at the state meet. That momentum has carried over to this spring as the first-year distance runner has run a 4:27 in the 1,600m and 9:34 in the 3,200m. With three summers and six and a half seasons remaining in his high school career, Clark could be well on his way to becoming North Carolina's next big distance star.

Kaitlyn Estep, So. - Cardinal Gibbons
Is she really a future star? I'd argue she already is one - but she fits the bill as a sophomore.
Estep is considered one of, it not, the best girls distance runner in the state and she has proven that over the last calendar year by winning the 4A 800m title last spring, capturing the 7A cross country state title in the fall, qualifying for Brooks XC Nationals, and she now holds the state's top times in the 1,600m (4:40) and 3,200m (10:14).
The sophomore is undefeated in three races this season, winning the two distance events and also showcasing her sprint speed, running a 56.27 in the 400m dash en route to a win at the Sanderson Home Meet #2. The question is no longer when the underclassman 'arrives,' but rather how much better can she get.

Mylan Clay, Fr - Corvian Community School
She has opened the outdoor track & field season undefeated, winning every competition she has contested, including the 200m dash, 100m and 300m hurdles, and long jump.
Clay sits with an NC FR #1 mark in the 100m and 300m hurdles, establishing herself as one of the state's brightest young stars in the hurdles. At the For All The Dawgs Invitational, the freshman ran a 14.10 and 43.91, which are also top 6 times throughout the entire state. Seeing that she is already one of the state's best, it could be only a matter of time before Clay becomes a major player on the national stage.
