Green Hope's girls, ranked #17 in the Harrier Pre-Season rankings probably deserve to be ranked higher in my opinion. These girls proved they will be the team to chase in North Carolina and possibly the entire SE region on Saturday. In their first meet of the season they popped some very quick times on the fast McAlpine Park course. it'll be interesting to see what improvement they make throughout the season. Take a look at their top 6!

1. Jessica Rossabi, 18:40
2. Erica Amatori, 18:43
3. Sarah Alexander, 18:59
4. Olivia Enright, 19:05
5. Mo McDonell, 19:12
6. Lauren Colburg, 19:16

Sarah Rapp of Cardinal Gibbons broke the old meet record and ran to a solid 18:27 for the win.

On the boys side, the Broughton boys looked strong and will most likely jump to #1 in the 4A Coaches' Poll. Their 1-4 were 16:13 to 16:36 and #5 ran 17:03. Not a bad start to the season.

Green Hope's Ryan Walling who some think could challenge Blake Williams for the 4A state title this year opened with a win and a 15:38 on the McAlpine course. He was followed closely by Marvin Ridge's Chris Colo. He himself is looking to win a state title this year, in the 3A classification. Colo ran 15:45 for 2nd place overall.

Course information that has been gathered is that it was very tough. Don't let the times fool you, there may be some very good teams out of the Forsyth area. The Mount Tabor girls were strong on this tough course and the Reagan boys may also be a surprise.

The South View boys could be back as they looked very solid in their first meet of the season. The Pinecrest girls won but I'm not sure if any of these girls teams need to be in the top 10 of their classification's quite yet.

Charlotte Latin's Haylee Dawe ran a solid 18:48 and with Frazier out of the NCISAA state meet, has become the new favorite for the state individual title. Haylee's time was 4th fastest on Jackson Park course which is impressive since regionals are often run there late in the season.

Chapel Hill's boys and girls traveled to Hendersonville with 14 athletes and dominated the 4 races they ran. Their boys won both the Championship and Invitational race while the girls did the same. Take a look at Chapel Hill's top boys from the meet:

A couple private school boys went 1,2 in the championship race with Thomas Graham running away from the field and throwing down a 15:28 to do so. His time was the 3rd fastest ever run on the course. Tim Gruber of Cannon School ran a new personal best, clocking a 16:06 for 2nd place.
