It's a great day to be a North Carolina Cross Country fan as seven individuals have qualified for Brooks XC Nationals at today's Brooks XC South Regional Championship at McAlpine! Four girls and three boys finished top 10 in the Championship race to lock in their ticket to San Diego on December 13th for the Brooks XC Championships.
In the girls race the leaders went through the halfway mark in 8:34.4 with 19 girls within 10 seconds of the leader Lilly Beshears (Rogers, Arkansas). Amongst that were 8 North Carolina girls.
Maysen Fletcher (Herbert Hoover HS, WV) would pull away down the stretch to take the individual win in 17:02.87.
Madeline Dorsch (Pinecrest) led North Carolina girls with a fourth place finish in 17:06.15. Kaitlyn Estep (Cardinal Gibbons) would take 8th in 17:21.70 with Kasey Dingman (Lake Norman) just behind in 17:22.56. Sofi Alexander (Asheville) would fight and earn the 10th spot crossing in 17:31.78.
