Jack Anstrom Breaks 3200m State Record Running 8:45.56

Watch Jack Anstrom run 8:48.63 at New Balance Indoor Nationals

Seaforth HS senior and NC State commit Jack Anstrom broke the North Carolina 3200m Indoor State Record over the weekend at New Balance indoor Nationals.

He placed 3rd overall in the full 2 Mile running 8:48.63 with a 3200m en route mark of 8:45.56.  This break's Connor Lane's (Cardinal Gibbons '17) previous State Record of 8:50.50 and makes Anstrom the first North Carolina boy under 8:50 indoors.  Coming into the weekend only Lane, Jacob Laney (Porter Ridge '23) and Jake Hurysz (Eastern Alamance '10) had broken the 9 minute barrier indoors.  Cary Academy junior Kavi Gibson also joined that club at Nike Indoor Nationals on Friday running a 8:57.69 2 Mile that will rank him at NC#4 All-Time Indoors.

Anstrom closed in an impressive 25.90 for the final 200m on Friday and he closed the gap on the leaders Josiah Tostenson (OR) and Aiden Monistere (LA) to finish third overall and beat out the chase group for third overall and All-American honors.
