Maya Love after winning three state championships at the NCHSAA 4A Indoor State Meet

Independence senior and South Carolina commit Maya Love was the NCHSAA 4A Indoor 55m Dash and 300m Dash runner-up in 2024 running 7.02 and 39.72. She'd go on to win the Outdoor 200m and 400m as well as take runner-up in the 100m Dash running 11.78, 23.82 and 53.91.
Love entered the meet as the top ranked NCHSAA athlete in the 55m Dash and 300m with seasons best of 6.90 and 38.19 on a banked track, slightly faster than JDL's flat track surface. The NCHSAA equates a .61 second difference between flat and banked tracks for the 300m.
She'd start the day with the 55m Dash prelims and would run just above her season best running a 6.92 to advance to the finals as the fastest qualifier. Soon after Love would come back for the 55m Dash finals and improve on her prelim mark running 6.91 to win the NCHSAA 4A 55m Dash finals.

She'd go from the finish line straight to join her team for the 4x200m relay where Independence was the top seed running 1:40.06 earlier this winter. Love would run lead off leg and set up her teammates, Hannah Dadie, Grace Rogers and Taniya Dickerson with a big lead who would bring it home for a relay title in 1:40.17 just off their season best from The VA Showcase.
Love would get some down time to recover ahead of the 300m Dash towards the end of the meet where she'd get out hard and only improve her lead over the lap and a half race running 38.78 to win her third state title of the day.
