4x800m Relays

Things got started Friday morning with fireworks in the 4A 4x800m relay where we saw a new Weddington throw down a new NC #1 and US# 7:42.68! At 1600 meters through the 3200-meter relay it became clear that this was a three-team race with Marvin Ridge, Weddington, and T.C. Roberson as the teams were right together in a pack. We would not see any real separation until the final 100 meters where sophomore Hunter Bates would pull away from the rest of the field delivering Weddington the title, TC Roberson took the runners-up position in 7:43.84 with Marvin Ridge finishing in third at 7:44.94.

On the 2A side of things, Salisbury's Jamal Rule edged out Brevard's Leo Murray in a back-and-forth battle in a time of 8:08.01 to Brevard's 8:09.4.  Nash Central would be just behind to take 3rd in 8:14 as T.W. Andrews would hold off West Davidson and Manteo for the final podium spot.

The 1A/3A action would be postponed from Saturday to Monday due to weather however, the wait was much worth it. Things began in the 1A 4x800m with Lejeune taking the victory in a time of 8:12.75 powered home by an anchoring leg of 1:59.32 from Elijah Cooley. Swain County secured the second-place position in 8:15.97, followed by South Davidson and South Stanly for third and fourth.

Favorites coming in Croatan would dominate the 3A 4x800 from start to finish dropping a 7:51.17 to take the victory. Hudson Rice of West Henderson held off a blistering closing leg of 1:54.90 from Central Academy of Technology's Andrew Catapano to secure his team the silver.
