Boys Moment of the Year - Antwan Hughes Jr. Erupts on the Indoor Track
The environment for the 2022-23 Indoor NCHSAA State Championship was unmatched. The crowd and teams brought the energy to JDL Fast Track, and the times showed it. Hughes Jr. of Parkland was quickly becoming a rising star in North Carolina, but all it takes is one moment, less than seven seconds, to turn into a star. And that is exactly what Hughes Jr. did. He flew down the track for the NCHSAA 4A 55m state title in state record tying fashion, 6.19.
The open end of the track at JDL allows for spectators to get a straight on view of the race, and boy did Hughes Jr. have a fan-club waiting for him at the end of the track. They erupted as he crossed the line, rushing to him and celebrating, but the finishing time flashed and the crowd erupted again. The energy behind this clip makes this our boys moment of the year.
