Saturday, April 22nd the Carolina Distance Carnival presented by Fleet Feet will take place at Weddington HS in Matthews, North Carolina. The event features the Craig Engels Elite 800m and Mile on the High School side as well as the Middle School Mile.

Last year's event feature Rocky Hansen dropping a 10 second PR going from 4:12 to 4:02 to just miss the North Carolina 1600m State Record, which he now owns, an epic negative split battle between Reese Dalton and Allie Zealand in the Mile. In the 800m Emanuel Williams just edged Hugh Willcox in 1:53 and Lauren Tolbert holding off Maddie Huecker and Sanu Jallow in 2:10 on the girls side.
The event currently has athletes signed up from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, Colorado, and Washington with two weeks left to register.
The registration deadline is April 16th at 10 PM EST. We will update athletes' seeds throughout the registration process through MileSplit's Online Registration platform, so as long as your results are in the database they'll be pulled in for updated seeds.
Early Entries
We have some fun prizes for this year's event with Saucony giving an embroidered backpack for the Top 3 overall of the high school and middle school races. High School overall event winners will also get a COROS Pace 2 GPS Watch and Mile winners will receive a new pair of Saucony's Cheetah Carbon Fiber Spikes. The top 3 in each event will receive awards. All athletes entered will get personalized bibs to wear during the event. We'll have a DJ keeping the atmosphere fun throughout the entirety of the event.
Rhode Race Timing will provide live results with 400m splits in real-time as well as FAT 1600m results from the HS Mile races. The event will also be live-streamed on MileSplit.
This year's event is slated to begin around 2 PM with the fast heats of the Mile going off at around 8:45 PM EST.
