Tyson Adams Sets New North Carolina Indoor Long Jump Record

West Forsyth's Tyson Adams soared to new heights at the Titan Clash II at JDL Thursday evening.

The NC State signee is the defending indoor and outdoor long jump state champion. Coming into the event, Adams had only cleared 24' three times in his career. That all changed.

Adams soared to a new North Carolina state indoor record of 25-1.5, making him the first North Carolina athlete to soar past 25' indoors.

He is now the 12th athlete in state history to clear 25' indoors or outdoors. His 25-1.5 is indoors and outdoors No. 9 in state history. The all conditions state record is 25-9 (2.1) from 1982. The wind legal state record is 25-6.5 from 1991. He is the first North Carolina athlete since 2011 to surpass 25'.

Adams is now also US No. 1 on the season, passing Micah Larry's season best. His mark is also good for US No. 17 all-time indoors. It is also a JDL High School facility record.

The senior also won the 55m and 55mH at Titan Clash II, running 6.42 and 8.01, respectively. He is NC No. 4 in the 55m dash on the season.
