Shawnti Jackson Sets New High School National Record in 300m

Arkansas signee Shawnti Jackson (South Granville, NC) made her final trip to The VA Showcase worthwhile!

Jackson took to the track Saturday afternoon in Virginia Beach for the Invitational 300m dash. She took the win and broke the high school national record in 36.64. She took down the previous record from 2017, where Sydney McLaughlin clocked 36.82.

From the gun, Jackson took it out strong from lane five. She made up the stagger on Elise Cooper (McDonogh School, MD), who was in lane 6, within the first 100m meters of the race. On her inside, Madison Whyte (Heritage, VA) put up a fight and was holding strong on Jackson's hip for the first 250m. Jackson proved to be just too strong, however. She powered down the home stretch, pulling away from the field and crossed the line victoriously, and in record setting fashion.

This is the second high school national record for Jackson in her career, as she set the indoor 60m dash national record in 2022.

Jackson also clocked 1:11.94 in the 500m on Friday taking runner-up.

The now-two time national record holder has just gotten started. It is safe to say that no record is safe in 2023.
