The Clash of the Carolinas is back, and this year's edition is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet! With some of the best talent from North and South Carolina coming together, several meet records are in serious jeopardy. Today, we take a closer look at the track events and the athletes who have the potential to rewrite the record books.  

With so many records in danger, the Clash of the Carolinas is shaping up to be an unforgettable event. We can't wait to see all of you at Cavalier Stadium this Saturday for one of the best early-season meets in the country!

100-Meter Dash

Boys Record: Nigel Ancrum (Spring Valley) - 10.50 (2023)

Challengers: This will be a tough record to break, but Fairfield Central's dynamic duo, Jayden Boyd (10.51) and Tydarion Greer (10.57), will push each other to the limit in pursuit of history.

Girls Record: Nina Dominique - 11.96 (2023)

Challenger: Adriana Zega enters the meet seeded at 11.93, making her a strong contender to take down the record.

200-Meter Dash

Boys Record: Bradon Black - 21.77 (2019)

Challengers: With six athletes seeded under the record, this is one of the most at-risk records of the meet. Expect a thrilling showdown.

Girls Record: Zaniya Littlejohn - 24.50 (2023)

Challenger: Olivia Taylor from Blythewood is the lone athlete seeded under the record.

100/110-Meter Hurdles

Boys Record: Xavier Branker - 14.41 (2023)

Challengers: Shamon Black (14.13, SC #2 last year) and Aiden Ray (14.52, with a PR of 13.93) are both poised to challenge this mark.

Girls Record: Aaliya Berry - 14.04 (2023)

While no one is currently seeded under the record, big performances could still emerge.

300-Meter Hurdles

Boys Record: Rance Springs - 38.10 (2023)

Challengers: Springs returns to defend his title and potentially lower his record, but he will face stiff competition from Neale Johnson (Nation Ford), who enters with a seed time of 38.0.

Girls Record: Megan Hatcher - 43.32 (2024)

Challengers: Tanya Dickerson (43.5) will be pushing for the record, with Tatiana Blake also a strong contender after an impressive indoor season.

400-Meter Dash

Boys Record: Devan Crumpton (Spring Valley) - 47.73 (2024)

Challengers: With 12 athletes seeded under 50 seconds and four under 48-Austin Smith (Northwestern), Micah Walker (Parkland), Derrick Hicks (Dudley), and Brenden Robbins (Cuthbertson)-this record could be in jeopardy.

Girls Record: Sanu Jallow - 56.10 (2022)

Challenger: Maya Love enters with a seed time of 53 seconds, and eight total girls are under 58 seconds, making this one of the most competitive events.

800-Meter Run

Boys Record: Eli Roth - 1:55.49 (2023)

Challengers: Three athletes are seeded under the record-Macaire N'twa (Ridge View), Noah Guerrero (Unattached), and Eaton Knox (Spartanburg).

Girls Record: Caroline Echols (RJ Reynolds) - 2:17.24 (2023)

Challengers: A deep field includes six girls seeded under the record, led by Annie Miller (NC's top 800m girl last season), Rachel Riley (Mount Tabor), Kasey Dingman (Lake Norman), Mckee Kent (Spartanburg Day), Ava Shook (York), and Colby McCollum (Cuthbertson).

1600-Meter Run

Boys Record: Caden Townsend (Weddington) - 4:17.95 (2023)

Challengers: Three athletes are seeded under the record-Kaleb Burrough (West Florence), Noah Guerrero (Unattached), and Wells Farfour (Unattached).

Girls Record: Chandler Welsh (RJ Reynolds) - 4:59.08 (2023)

Challenger: Alivia Cleveland (Fort Mill) enters with a seed time of 4:54.8, making her a favorite to break the record.

4x100-Meter Relay

Boys Record: Parkland - 41.73 (2023) (Eventual National Champions)

Challengers: Ridge View has already run 41.68 this season, making them prime candidates to claim the record.

Girls Record: Hickory Ridge - 47.68 (2022)

Challengers: Ridge View's girls are looking to match the boys with a record-breaking day.

4x200-Meter Relay

Boys Record: Parkland - 1:37.10 (2023)

Challengers: Cuthbertson is aiming to take down the record this year.

Girls Record: Hickory Ridge - 1:40.02 (2022)

Challenger: Blythewood enters with a strong 1:38.54, positioning themselves well to set a new meet best.

4x400-Meter Relay

Boys Record: Spring Valley - 3:25.80 (2023)

Challengers: Five teams are under the record mark this year-Dudley, Ridge View, Cuthbertson, Parkland, and Westwood-setting up a thrilling finale.

Girls Record: Olympic - 3:55.40 (2023)

Challenger: Blythewood is seeded right at the record, making this a must-watch race to close out the meet.

Challengers: Ridge View is seeded 6 seconds under the previous Record.

Girls Record: Reagan- 9:51.35 (2022)
