Asheville junior Seth Caudill dropped a nine-second personal best Friday at the Carolina Distance Carnival. Caudill found himself in heat nine with his 4:29 personal best, but he wanted to prove to himself that he was much more capable of that. At the halfway point he shot to the lead and did not look back. He had pulled away nearly 40 meters headed into bell lap and did not take his foot off the break. He came roaring around and finished in 4:20.59. He now sits No. 2 in the 1,600m in the NCHSAA 4A West Regional.
