Girls 800m
All eyes will be on the girls 800m run Friday night.
Lauren Tolbert vs Sanu Jallow, once again. In 2021 Tolbert just edged Jallow, 2:07.77 to 2:08.28, which are NC No. 3 and 4 all-time. They will be chasing the state record held by Mackenzie Pierce, 2:06.66.
The field behind them is stacked as well! Maddie Huecker (Lake Norman) is NC No. 3 this season and a big race from her could put her on the national stage.
Five of the current top 10 in North Carolina are in this race: Jallow, Huecker, Caroline Echols (R.J. Reynolds), Linde Fonville (Charlotte Country Day), and Lilly Walters (Hough).
Prediction: Both Tolbert and Jallow go sub 2:08, but fall just short of the state record.
