Northern Durham's Andre Whitaker-Myart after setting a new meet record in the 100m dash.
Girls Premier 100m Hurdles:
Alexa Nestor (Green Level) entered the day with the top seed and did not disappoint. She got out to a quick start, with Panther Creek's Jayda Lewis matching her stride for stride. Nestor powered over the final two hurdles and came charging to the finish and took home the victory in 14.66! It is the 4th fastest time in meet history!
Boys Premier 110m Hurdles:
Four new top ten times in the state this season came from this race. It was led by Roleville's Lance Garrett, who used a strong back half of the race to come back and capture the win in a NC No. 7, 14.92. Griffin Van Vooren (Cary Christian) finished runner-up and clocked a seasonal NCISAA No. 1, and NCISAA No. 25 all-time 15.34. Langston Wood (Dudley) and Timothy Richardson (Knightdale) finished 3-4 and secured top ten times in the state.
Girls Premier 1,600m:
Cardinal Gibbons freshman standout Hannah Rae Shaffer took the pace out quickly, running a 1:07 opening 400m. No one dared to match Shaffer at the front, as it quickly became a solo effort. She crossed the 800m in 2:25 and held on the back half to finish in NC No. 1 and NC Frosh No. 5 all-time, 4:56.81 (only .4 seconds off NC Frosh No. 2 all-time). She now sits US Frosh No. 6 in the event. Amelia Maughan (Chapel Hill) takes 2nd in 5:07.79 and Hannah Preisser (Carborro) finishes 3rd in 5:13.04.
Boys Premier "Roy Cooper" 1,600m:
Top seed Dylan Look (Chapel Hill) took this field out quickly, running a 1:03 opening quarter. The field remained tight up throughout the majority of the race. The field went four wide down the front stretch as they hit bell lap. With 250m to go it was Apex Friendship's Finn McKee who made the move to the front and did not look back. He held off a final push from Wake Forest's Andrew Mallo, and took the premier victory in NC No. 5 fashion, 4:18.96. Mallow held on for 2nd, running 4:19.66.
Girls Premier 100m Dash:
Joslyn Hamilton (Rolesville) had to take a break from the action at the high jump pit to run in the premier 100m finals. Out of the blocks, she came roaring down the straightaway. She finished strong and tied her personal best, while taking the win, in 11.98. Chianel Asoburuenwu (Athens Drive) and Kendall Johnson (Millbrook) finished 2-3, respectively. Hamilton did go on to win the high jump, as well.
Boys Premier 100m Dash:
Everyone in the facility had their eyes on the track for the premier 100m dash for Andre Whitaker-Myart (Northern Durham) vs Isaiah Monroe (Dudley). Whitaker-Myart had immediate ground to make up on the field, but the senior kept trucking down the straight and had a phenomenal final 30 meters to fly by the field and take the win and set a new meet record. His 10.48 is now NC No. 2 this season!
