Mallard Creek sophomore Macy Dulaney is the favorite going into the shot put competition. She holds a half-foot lead over the best of second seed Devon Davis (North Mecklenburg).

Spencer Williams (Davie County) is chasing the state meet record of 61-10. Williams has tossed 60-3.75 this season indoors and has an outdoor best of 61-11.

Ija Mumford (Parkland) has over a half foot lead in the long jump, as she sits NC No. 1 this season with a 18-7.25 leap. She holds over a one foot lead in the seed marks in the triple jump, sitting NC No. 2 for all-classifications. NC No. 2 this season in long jump is fellow-4A competitor Alexa Nestor (Green Level), who jumped 18-0 this season.

Jared Harrell (Panther Creek) is looking to double in the long and triple jump. He sits NC No. 1 in the triple jump with a leap of 46-5. He is not the top seed in the long jump however, as West Forsyth junior Tyson Adams holds nearly a one foot advantage.

The boys high jump state record is 7-0 from 2002. Cleveland senior Kyzaiah Stone has a best jump of 7-0 this indoor season, so he will be chasing history. On his tail is Bryson Robinson (Davie County) who has a 6-8 best.

Olympic senior Jazmine Williamson will go toe-to-toe in high jump with Aria Wegh (Marvin Ridge) and Faith Spencer (Panther Creek).

Four girls have a best leap of 12-0 in pole vault, Maddie Davies (Athens Drive), Ava Studney (Cuthbertson), Haley Hanes (West Forsyth), and Kendall Ford (Weddington).

On the boys' side, three seniors face off: Drew Evans (Lake Norman), Noah Rhodes (Fuquay-Varina), and Graham Gutknecht (South Mecklenburg).
