Three Cardinal Gibbons Freshman Rewrite The Record Book

It was a big day for Cardinal Gibbons at the NCHSAA 4A East Regional in Greenville, North Carolina. They place their entire top five in the top 12 overall, including a 1-3-4 finish! Cardinal Gibbons went on to win the regional with only 26 points! 

Freshman Hannah Rae Shaffer has been dominant all season. She entered the day with a 17:45 personal best, which was NC Frosh No. 3 all-time. That mark came during the CAP-7 Conference Championship, where she took home the individual crown. She ran a powerful race in Greenville and destroyed her own personal best, clocking 17:22 in a convincing win. That mark moves her up to NC Frosh No. 2 all-time and US Frosh No. 36 all-time! 

Her time is also good for US Frosh No. 3, and US No. 49 overall this season!

The lead pack for Cardinal Gibbons is not going away for a long, long time. Finishing 3rd and 4th respectively at the NCHSAA 4A East Regional were Cardinal Gibbons freshmen Ina Lazarczyk and Addy Mitchell. They both ran huge personal bests each dropping a minute off their old time! Lazarczyk dropped a 18:03 and Mitchell 18:21. They currently sit as the top three freshman in North Carolina this season. Lazarczyk's 18:03 sits her US Frosh No. 36 this season!

Cardinal Gibbons will be in action next weekend at Ivey Redmon in Kernersville, NC for the NCHSAA 4A State Championship. These breakout performances from Cardinal Gibbons puts them well in the picture to walk away next Saturday with a trophy in hand.
