Countdown To Outdoor Track: 20 Days

Skip To Discuss Top 20 All-Time

20 days to go until NCHSAA outdoor track! With outdoor track is right around the corner, today, we look at the top 20 all-time girls in the shot put and discuss and which girls have the opportunity to rewrite the record books this season.

Only 20 girls in North Carolina history have thrown for over 40' in shot put. The most recent member of this exclusive club are 2018 graduates Veronica Fraley (Wakefield) and Kayla Beasley (Hillside). Mckynzie Mauney (Gaston Day School) has gotten off to a great start to her junior NCISAA season having already thrown 39-7 in March. Sydney Freeman (Millbrook) is the top returner having thrown over 42' during the shortened 2020 season. Freeman is also the defending 2020 Indoor NCHSAA state champ. Other notable athletes to watch who threw over 37' in 2019 are Gabrielle Borum (West Henderson) and Elizabeth Sawicki (Cuthbertson).
