In 2019 we saw 30 boys clear 13 feet in the pole vault and a bunch more sitting at 12' or above. Returning this season is High Point Christian Academy's Stephen Loy, who has already cleared 14'0" in NCISAA actions this season. Drew Evans of Lake Norman cleared 14'3.25" indoors last year, and will replicate that success outdoors this season. Noah Rhodes has cleared 14'0" indoors this past season as well.

South Mecklenburg's Graham Gutknecht and Leesville Road's Ethan Clawson cleared 13'0" with the time of the 2020 season they had. Weddington's Connor Blumsack and Collin Hendriksma have both come close to the 13' mark outdoors. Blumsack jumped 13'0" indoors, and holds and outdoor personal best of 12'10.5". Look for big things out of Blumsack this season in 3A. Henry Coatney (Watagua) is another huge name in 3A. The junior placed 4th at the 2020 3A NCHSAA Indoor State Meet, jumping 13'6".
