The depth of the girls' field at New Balance Dash For Doobie was remarkable. Heat 3 of the girls' 3,200m competition featured one of the most impressive performances of the day from Liberty commit and host-school Reagan's own Samantha Troup. Most of the field was looking to dip under the 12:00 barrier, which six of these ladies did, but Troup wanted to go even faster. From the gun Troup took to the field and did not hold back. The senior clocked a new personal best and took the heat win in 11:30, winning by almost 20 seconds.
Troup has had a great start to the spring as we approach the start of outdoor track. Troup ran 5:21 in the 1,600m at the Diamond Hornets Invitational earlier this month. Look for Troup to really emerge as one of the top runners in the state during this spring.
