Boys Top 25 Countdown: #24 Cary Academy

Overall Returning Rankings

NCISAA 4A Returning Rankings

Coming in at #24 is Cary Academy! Cary Academy is led by All-State rising senior Kenny Eheman. Eheman finished 6th at last season's NCISAA 4A State Meet where his Charger squad placed 4th overall. They are returning 5 out of their 7 runners from the State Meet, including their top three runners: Eheman, Matthew Crow, and Sebastian Polge. Crow and Polge both managed to place in the Top 25 at last season's state meet, but look to challenge for an All-State spot in the Top 10 this season.

Eheman had a great Indoor Track season posting marks on 2:37 in the 1000m, 4:30 in the 1600m, and 9:37 in the 3200M! We haven't seen Crow or Polge compete officially since their XC State Meet last season, but with the way they were running at the end of the season we could be in store for breakout seasons from this duo.

Xavier deSouza has the 2nd best 5000m PR on this team, but only managed to place 40th in their State Meet, finishing as Cary Academy's 7th man. If deSouza can be up with the front pack at the State Meet than this Chargers team can be elite. Same goes for Kyle Murphy. Murphy ran 17:11 at Jungle Run last season which is the 3rd best returning time on the team, but he finished 39th at their State Meet. If these two rising seniors step up on the biggest stage the possibilities are endless for this squad.

The Chargers return as the 2nd best team in the NCISAA 4A and the 25th team overall. I think that a strong front runner in Kenny Eheman and a strong pack behind him, this team can win the NCISAA 4A title. Their biggest strength is they have less than a :30 second split from their 2-5 runners.
