Carmen Alder (Pinecrest) is a 9X State Champion between XC and Track, and she will be looking to clinch double digits with a win in XC. The talent behind her? Scary. Isabella Frey (Wake Forest) has a PR of only nine seconds slower than Alder, so she is definitely within striking distance. ECU Commit Paxton Chitty (Ashley) ran 18:07 last year so she will be gunning with that top group come state meet time. Lilly Walters (Hough) is another name to keep an eye on in the front of races as she boasts a 18:08 personal best and was runner-up to Alder in 2019. Alder's younger sister Vanessa Alder placed 3rd at the State Meet last year as a freshman and has been off to a fire start this summer on the track posting a 5:08 in the 1600m. Olivia Bufalini (Laney), Madeline Stolberg (Lake Norman) and Molly Parker (Hoggard) all joined the younger Alder sister as freshman on the All-State team. Gwen Parks (Reagan) and Kendall Phillips (West Forsyth) were both also All-State last season.
