Angie Allen Runs 4:58 1600m Time Trial

North Lincoln junior Angie Allen broke 5 minutes in the 1600m for the first time in a time trial running 4:58.22.  Lincoln County tracks have been reopened for public exercise.

Allen used two of her male teammates to pace her to even 2:29 splits after taking the first 400m out in 1:03.

Allen ran 5:01 in the brief outdoor season we had before it was shut down due to COVID-19.  She also head a personal best of 5:05 during the indoor season.  She was the NCHSAA 1A/2A 1600m and 3200m State Champion this indoor season as well as the 1000m runner-up.

Though this is considered unofficial for all-time state rankings, it would rank her 31st All-Time Indoors or Outdoor in the 1600m in state history and makes her the 43rd North Carolina girl under 5:00 for the 1600m!

Though the 2020 outdoor season is cancelled in North Carolina, Allen is making the best of it and won't let it slow down her high school career.  Allen has gone from good to great over the last year and this is yet another step forward.
