Pinecrest's Carmen Alder has earned North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive year.
As a junior Alder was unbeaten by North Carolina athletes throughout the NCHSAA season while winning her second straight NCHSAA 4A State Championship.
Alder recorded 5 sub-18 performances in the cross country season winning major invitationals such as the Providence Invitational, Friday Night Lights, adidas Cross Country Challenge and the NCRunners Elite Invitational.
Alder has been dominant since she entered the high school scene as a freshman in 2017 and has continued to get better each year.
In 2020 Alder will look to be the first North Carolina to receive Gatorade Player of the Year three times over their career.
