Panther Creek's Ian Harrison Commits To NC State

Watch Ian Harrison take 2nd at the NCHSAA 4A State Championships in the 3200m.

Ian Harrison of Panther Creek has announced his commitment to NC State University to continue his cross country and track career.

Harrison said, "I ultimately decided on NC State because they had the best balance of academics and athletics. They have a great engineering program at NC State and also have an amazing cross country program. One thing Coach Scruggs told me was that I should think about which school I would want to go to even if I wasn't running, and NC State fits that perfectly. Also, Coach Geiger and Coach Seaton have lots of experience/success and I think I have the most potential at NC State. When I went on my official visit I instantly felt like I fit in with the team and had a great time."

Harrison also considered UNC Charlotte, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech.

Harrison emerged as a star during his junior cross country season where he ran 15:25.  He's dropped his PR down to 15:09 which is good for NC#2 on the season.  He holds track PRs of 4:19 for the 1600m and 9:09 for the 3200m.  He was 2nd in the NCHSAA 4A 3200m last outdoor track season.

Harrison recently won the Tri-8 Conference Championship last weekend and will look to bring home a NCHSAA 4A Mideast and NCHSAA 4A State Championship over the next two weekends.
