Last fall may have been only been her first high school cross country season, but Carrboro's Hannah Preisser raced confidently from the get go. Preisser won the 2A girls cross country state championship at Ivey Redmon by nearly 10 seconds, and will hope to defend her title and continue her young success as a sophomore this season.
Preisser holds a 5k personal best of 18:31.70 from the Foot Locker South Regional last November at McAlpine, which puts her in contention as one of the best young distance runners in North Carolina. And she didn't stop there; Preisser won the 3,200m state title indoors and outdoors and ran below 11 minutes for the same distance at Dash for Doobie.
Already displaying so much talent at such a young age, Preisser looks to be the favorite to win yet another state cross country championship this fall and possibly earn recognition as one of the best in the state.
