Jenna Reiter joins Pinecrest's Carmen Alder as one of the few athletes to have ever dropped under 18 minutes for the 5k, Jenna Reiter of West Carteret may very well have her strongest season yet as a senior to end her high school cross country career on top. Cross country is typically Reiter's strong suit, so she should feel right at home out on the course this year.

Reiter comes into 2019 with a top 10 finish at last year's competitive 3A state cross country championships, having placed eighth in a time of 18:47.58. She recorded a season best of 18:27.00 in 2018 but holds a personal record of 17:59.00 from tenth grade. If Reiter can get into low-18 minute shape like she has in previous years, she could really challenge 3A front runners such as defending champ Madeline Hill and West Johnson's Hayley Whoolery for a medal at states.

Comparing her 5k times from cross country to her race times in track, Reiter didn't have as great of a track season as a junior compared to other years. But Reiter always seems to race her best in the most important races on the cross country course.

Reiter could be one to watch this season to potentially upset some of the more dominant racers at the 3A level like North Iredell's Jonna Strange and West Johnson's Hayley Whoolery
