Daniel McArthur (Mooresville, University of North Carolina) - Shot Put
In his school McArthur won the NCHSAA 4A Indoor shot put State Championship throwing 55-8.75 as a senior. Outdoors he would finish as runner up in both the shot put and discus. His overall high school PRs were 55-8.5 indoors and 59-11 outdoors. College is certainly a whole different ball game in the shot put as the weight you're throwing increases.
In his third year McArthur is a sophomore eligibility wise indoors. He was the ACC Champion and holds a seasons best of 64-10.25. He's qualified for the NCAA DI East Prelims in his first two outdoor seasons, but this will be his first ever National Championship at the collegiate level.
McArthur comes in as the 10th overall seed this weekend.
