Sierra Fletcher takes home 100m Hurdle Victory
Sierra Fletcher (Southeast Raleigh) threw down yet another strong 100m Hurdle performance on Saturday. Fletcher kicked off the event with the fastest prelim time of 14.12 making it look really easy heading into the finals. Rival Akira Rhodes (Mallard Creek) was the second fastest qualifier at 14.42.
The two girls were favorites heading into the finals. During the race Fletcher had a slight lead, but it was close between her Rhodes and Gabriela Garza (IMG Academy). Fletcher came off the last hurdle strong and continued through the line just off her PR of 13.91. Garza edged Rhodes through the line clocking 14.17 to Rhodes 14.20.
Fletcher came back later in the day with a 1:02.99 400m Hurdle time in a runner-up finish to Ariana Rivera.
