Spencer Evans, Lindsay Absher give NC a Pole Vault sweep
Lindsay Absher (West Forsyth) kicked off the day with the Girls Pole Vault and took home a new NC#1 mark and outdoor PR of 12-10. Absher was the only girl in the competition to clear 12-0 getting the win out of the way relatively early. Absher went up to 12-10 next and she cleared it with ease on her first attempt. Absher then went up to 13-2 where she had three close attempts, but came up just short.
North Carolina girls took home the top 3 spots with Susannah Truitt (Panther Creek) jumping 12-0 and Riley Felts (Weddington) jumping 11-6.

Spencer Evans (Lake Norman) opened his season up with a new outdoor PR of 16-0 at the Bojangles Classic taking home the win. Evans had a breakout indoor campaign where he finished 4th at New Balance Nationals clearing 16-5.25. Evans was the only boy to clear 16 feet, though runner-up Seth Rabinowitz (Providence) was very close over his final attempt.
Evans then went up to 16-6, and the sophomore came very close to clearing on multiple attempts. Evans said he hopes to clear 17-0 as a sophomore, and is very likely to be the best Pole Vaulter the states has ever seen by a decent margin by the end of his career. At this point last year Evans jumped 12-6, just to give some reference to his rapid rise in the event.
