This Saturday teams will run at the state championship course. These runners will find that the course is a bit different. NCRunners.com provides details about the course from Mount Tabor coach Patrick Cromwell. Included are the race assignments for this weekends Tanglewood Invitational. Now some teams will be using this race as a tempo and some teams will be racing it. The first race starts at 9:30 with the Girls Championship.
Description of thecourse: The course has been changed due to new parking restrictions therefore we were forced to make a course change. The start is the same. Finish is approx 10m shorter from years past. The main difference is upon entering the "river" section you make an immediate left. This exit from the river is now very wide and is graded with a more gentle slope. A wider loop in the field was necessary but it is very level with better footing I believe. I do think it will be a bit faster than in the past and eliminates the narrow river trail and short but steep exit as in the past. There is still the narrow section 190m into the race but it immediately opens after wards so I feel the start is less critical than in years past. Race Information
- Park Opens at 8:00am
- Coaches meeting at 8:50am
- Pick up race packets anytime under the concert shell on stage.
- Buses park free in designated area just past gate house and adjacent to
new team tent area.
- All other vehicles will be charged $6 for parking and will be directed
past the gate house to new parking area.
- Coaches should run their top 7 in the Varsity race they have been designated regardless of their intent to race hard or just preview the course.
