Isabel Zimmermann (Reagan) entered as the third overall seed in the Invitational Girls 2 Mile on Saturday, but after kicking off the season with a solo 5:07 1600 and 3:01 for the 1000 it was evident she was very capable of winning this race. 4 girls emerged from the pack early on as Zimmermann sat back in 4th or 5th. With around 6 laps to go Zimmermann knew it was time to make her move and she did not look back after doing so. Zimmermann hammered it home winning in 10:54.25 over Doria Martingayle (Princess Anne, Virginia) who was 9 seconds back at 11:03.
