Finally, we do have two of our very own in Ryan Hill of Hickory and Patrick Campbell of Mooresville headed to San Diego to put on a show for all of you.

This will be Ryan's 2nd trip out West for the meet, so hopefully his wisdom of the course will pay off this year. Last year Ryan won the South Regional and then went on to place 26th in 16:08. The course is tough and may have a learning curve. I believe Ryan has all the ability to finish among the top runners at this Foot Locker Nationals. Ryan ran 9:03(converted) for 3200 last track season as he competed in the 2-mile at the Nike Outdoor Championships in Greensboro, NC. He also ran an impressive 4:13 true mile at the Raleigh Running Outfitters mile. All the predictions thus far have him in the top 10.

Patrick will be making his first trip to San Diego after a huge improvement from one year ago. At last year's Foot Locker South Regional, Campbell ran a respectable 16:14, but this year clocked 15:12, good for 9th place. Patrick's jump began during the indoor season when he ran a PR for the 3200 at the Eastern High School Challenge, hitting 9:43. Later in the outdoor season he began his chasing of Hill, running 9:33 at the 3A state meet. He completed his outdoor season with a big PR of 15:25 at the Nike Outdoor Championships. This gave him the confidence to keep going forward. Patrick has a crew of Mo-town athletes and Coach Serefine traveling with him. He hasn't run poorly all season, bet on him being 10-20 seconds behind Hill as usual. That could place him in the top 20!
