The Marvin Ridge girls had to sweat out their win through the end of the meet. The Marvin Ridge boys, well, not so much.
Entertaining battles between evenly-matched opponents, and entertaining team battles - those were the defining themes of the 3A state meet. In only its second year as a stand-alone meet, the overall quality of the performances improved, although the superstar quotient was a little thin. That made for a more exciting meet, with balance across most of the meets and an even higher team focus that usual. That includes something that has only happened once before, in any classification, in North Carolina indoor track history.
