Girls' Distance
Leesville's girls started the show with a dominant win in the 4x800, taking the lead within the first 50m and never looking back. They ran a 9:39.221 NC #1 with no competition, and after seeing the results of their girls in the other distance events later in the day, there is no telling how much they could drop this season. In arguably the biggest performance of the day, Nevada Mareno (Leesville) beat the field in the last heat of the 1000 by 17 seconds running an unbelievable All-Time State Record 2:49.79 US #3 (more on this later today!). Clare McNamara (Chapel Hill) won the 1600 with a 5:15, followed by Leesville's G'Jasmine Butler running 5:16. The two-mile was an electrifying race with a remarkably close finish by Rebekah Greengrass (Panther Creek) to win the race with an 11:11.96, out-sprinting Kayla Holder (Wake Forest) in the last 20 meters.
