North Carolinians at the 2007 World Champs in Osaka

 

Two former North Carolina HS athletes will be competing in Osaka, Japan at the 2007 World Championships. Along with them are a number of athletes who call North Carolina home.

 

Jesse Williams, formerly of Broughton HS, is one of the nation's top high jumpers. Jesse won multiple NCAA championships while at the University of Southern California. He now competes for NIKE and travels all over the world. His personal best is 7-7.75 and he still holds NC's all-time best at 7-3. Jesse is one of three athletes representing the US in the high jump. 

 

J-Mee Samuels, formerly of Mount Tabor, now competes at the University of Arkansas. J-Mee has had a lot of success already at Arkansas, running their 2nd fastest time in school history as a sophomore. He was also an All-American during the 2007 season. J-Mee will run the 100m in Osaka and could be on the 4x100m relay team.

Me'Lisa Barber & Mikele Barber - 4x400 pool & 4x100 pool - reside in Raleigh

Michelle Sikes - 5000m - competed for the Wake Forest University, still live in Winston-Salem

Alice Schmidt - 800m - competed for the Univeristy of North Carolina
