Mitchell Resor and Nathan Kemper battled over the Beeson Park course for the title of UNOFFICIAL JV State Champion.

Featured Meet: Frosh/Soph Invitational (Beeson Park)

Coverage:

Highlights:

  • The only race that was really contested up front was the Boys Frosh/Soph, where Mitchell Resor (Weddington) and defending champion Nathan Kemper (Lake Norman Charter) battled all the way to the final 400.  Resor pulled away then, winning by 8 seconds to dash the hopes of a repeat title.

  • Weddington's boys dominated the Frosh/Soph race, scoring 28 point while putting 5 runners into the top 13 - check out all the green jerseys near the front:

  • Hard-charging freshman Sara Platek (Ragsdale) went straight to the front of the Girls Frosh/Soph race and stayed there, winning in 18:06 over fellow 9th-grader Alexa King (Marvin Ridge).

  • King led her Marvin Ridge teammates to a commanding victory in the Girls Frosh/Soph race, scoring just 21 points with 5 runners in the top 8.  This team is loaded for the future!

  • In the Boys Junior/Senior race, Wyatt Maxey (Providence) took charge in the first 800 and never eased up, cruising home in 15:46.

  • Providence teammates Grace Sullivan and Bianca Bishop pushed themselves around the course, with Sullivan eventually winning (both ran 17:57).  This was Sullivan's first time under 18 minutes, and the two of them are shaping up to be a very low-scoring duo up front for the Panthers.
