The A. C. Reynolds senior has added some serious team goals to her individual plans for her final year of high school running.
As the senior leader of a young team with high aspirations this year, Larissa Wood has to look beyond her own performances to see the bigger picture. Though the arrival of talented youngsters last year might initially have been a challenge to the runner that had been the team's clear #1 prior to that point, she has now embraced the benefits of having strong teammates around her. She also has the somewhat unusual opportunity to see her leadership carried on beyond her own graduation: since she is the only senior in the top 7 on her team, Larissa's influence on the younget runners will still be on display next year, and she can take pride in their continued success. On a side note, over the last year I have been struck by how often I find out that our state's track and cross country athletes also have serious artistic talents and interests. Larissa fits into that pattern, as she describes during the interview.
