Chapel Hill\'s boys and girls teams both find themselves ranked in the 1st NTN poll of the season. Chapel Hill, who won both 4A state titles last year, return plenty of runners who feel up to the task of repeating.
Boys Southeast
1.Midlothian (VA) - Close state 3A 3rd-placer has everyone back led by 9:18 3200 man
2.Trinity (KY) - State 3A runner-up that challenged St. Xavier has 3 top-20 runners back and much experience
3.Clarke County (VA) - State 1A champ has 4 back from top 8 in state field
4.Smiths Station (AL) - State 6A runner-up has 3 all-staters back after excellent track season
5.Jefferson Sci/Tech (VA) - Close state 3A runner-up returns strong team but top man Brian Landry is hurt
6.Brentsville (VA) - State 2A champ returns 2 top-5 scorers and other solid performers
7.Hermitage (VA) - Close state 4th-place 3A team returns 5 solid runners in tight pack
8.W. Springfield (VA) - Best team in years for squad led by individual state favorite Mike Spooner
9.Walton (GA) - State 5A runner-up led by 4:13/9:11 runner Jay Heller but must close the gap
10.Chapel Hill (NC) - Last year's SE #1 loses top 3 all-staters but has next 4 back plus key transfer
Girls Southeast
1.Roosevelt (MD) - SE#1 from '05 has everyone back after sensational track season while adding 2:09 800 runner
2.Tatnall (DE) - State Div II champ by 82 has everyone back with girls who ran 1-2-3-5- at state with top-5 running 1600s in 4:55, 5:03, 5:09, 5:10 and 5:15 last spring
3.Midlothian (VA) - State 3A champ by 52 has everyone back in squad that goes 9-deep, all quality
4.Episcopal (FL) - State 2A champ by 75 and SE #2 has everyone back after excellent track season
5.Brentsville (VA) - State 2A champ has everyone back led by state runner-up Becky Stewart
6.Collins Hill (GA) - State 5A champ by 74 has 6 of 7 back led by state champ and 4:52/10:38 runner Jackie Druin
7.Mountain Brook (AL) - State 6A champ by 52 has everyone back with top 5 in the top-14 at state
8.Morgantown (WV) - State 3A champ returns 4 of 5 in top-21 at state with 18-second spread after great track season.
9.Chapel Hill (NC) - State 4A champ returns 5 scorers in top-22 at state with 60-second spread
10.Scottsboro (AL) - Return of 4 of state 5A top 9 after excellent track season
