Abel Tecle and his classmates have their eyes set on some aggressive goals, both for the fall season and beyond.
One of the pleasant surprises this cross country season has provided us so far has been the strength of the Cary boys team. Not that they were expected to be bad, mind you; based on last year's times, they were predicted to be 10th in the state overall and 5th in 4A. However, they have exceeded those expectations so far, running second to Broughton at the Providence Invitational and then taking a commanding win at UNC Wilmington last weekend. This Saturday's adidas XC Challenge will bring an even stiffer test for the Imps, who are led by the four seniors in this interview: Bakri Abushouk, currently the state leader and sitting at US #8; Abel Tecle, who broke through in the 3200 last spring and is currently 9th in the state; Everette Jordan, and Justin Lane. Time will tell if this group can achieve the high goals they set out in this video, but I wouldn't rule them out, either.
