North Carolina Future Stars: Christ School's Dawson Reeves

Presenting our newest feature: The Future Stars Series. In this series, we'll take a look at one freshman or sophomore a week that is making a big impact early in their career, and is showing that they are a star in the making.

Christ School sophomore Dawson Reeves is next up on our weekly North Carolina Future Stars Series!

Reeves was absolutely rolling during indoor during season, and capped it off at the UK High School Invitational where he ran a new North Carolina sophomore class indoor mile record of 4:18.49. It isn't the first class record for Reeves, during the 2021 outdoor season he ran 4:21.55 in the full mile to set the North Carolina freshman class record in the event. His freshman outdoor time is also good for US Freshman No. 42 all-time! Also during last outdoor season, he ran a NC Freshman No. 2 all-time 1:55.70 in the 800m.

During cross country season, Reeves was runner-up in the NCISAA 4A state championship behind teammate Rocky Hansen. As a freshman in 2020, Reeves was 5th at the cross country state meet, and as an 8th grader in 2019, he was 16th overall.

At the 2021 NCISAA Division I Outdoor State Championship Reeves finished 4th in both the 800m and 1,600m.

The North Carolina sophomore outdoor mile record of 4:13.74 has been standing for 15 years, and is held by Chapel Hill legend Taylor Gilland. The North Carolina sophomore class 800m record of 1:51.84 from Jimmy Scott (T.W. Andrews) has not been broken in over 35 years.
