Jeff George, Tommy Delaunay, and James Tatter's Preseason Top 25 Boys & Girls!

James' Girls Picks

RANKTEAMLAST RESULTCOMMENTS
1
Cardinal Gibbons returns three (!!!) girls under 18:30 and their entire top seven is sub 20. Having a top-5 average under 18:45 shows why this team comes in number one.
2
Chapel Hill also returns a loaded and experienced line up, and if history has any indicator the Chapel Hill girls will outperform their preseason statistics and have a solid shot to repeat as 3A champs.
3
Sarah Latour put on a one woman show at the outdoor state meet, and the rest of the state should beware of her untouchable finishing speed. But this whole team seems poised to make life hard for Chapel Hill. Don't be fooled by the PR based rankings, this team showed during track and through the times of incoming freshman that they are locked and loaded for a big season, and no team is safe if Cuthbertson lives up to their potential.
4
Green Hope will be carried by Kelsey Vogel and Alessandra Rodriguez at the front of a solid team, including their two transfers. On both the girls' and guys' sides, Green Hope is a force to be reckoned with.

Providence is a pack oriented team, particularly with their strong top 3 all within 4 seconds of each other. As always with pack teams, they ride and die off the ability to work together and find points within the gaps of other teams. Providence will look to make some noise if they can see some improvement from the back half of their top 7.

10
Broughton has a close pack 1-6 and not much more needs to be said about a Broughton program that consistently turns out top level teams.
11
Boosted by a stud freshman class, this team brings in even more talent than the returning rankings suggest, and even then the database puts West Forsyth in the top 20.
12
13
Sophie Faircloth and Ainsley Cooper took advantage of having a teammate like Isabelle Zimmerman last season and come back with the experience and resume to be strong leaders for a team with a lot of potential.
14
15
Another team with a stellar 1-5 split, Heritage will have to find some depth in order to move further up the rankings.
16
17
Mount Tabor had a solid distance showing during outdoor track, and with a year under her belt, sophomore Francis Whitworth could be a budding star to lead this team in their first year in 3A.

South View impressed on the track, which is why this team finds themselves in the top 25 despite the loss of Janay Hall. Converting this success to the course is the major key for a program that knows how to develop runners.
25
Brevard showcased a great team last fall, and Ava Findley is a rising star who could help sustain the success for Brevard.
